After 18 seasons in the NFL, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning said that he will retire from the game. It’s not a bad time for Manning to hang up his helmet. After all, his last game was a Super Bowl 50 victory, and he has the NFL-all time record for career touchdown passes, passing yards and career wins.
Now, according to Local 8, Sretailer port Seasons in Knoxville, Tenn.—home of Manning’s alma mater, the University of Tennessee (UT)—has been selling out of Manning-related merchandise.
This same store sold out during the Super Bowl. It currently is selling Manning-themed jerseys, T-shirts, decals and Legos.
Fans of Manning and the UT football team said that Manning is a good representation of Tennessee football.
“I think he’s a class act,” Andrew Long, manager of Sport Seasons, told Local 8. “He’s an ambassador for UT football. I don’t think we have a better face for our program.”
Manning formally announced his retirement today, according to NFL.com, though he has told sources over the last few days.
Long told Local 8 that he expected even more demand for Manning-related merchandise as a result of the announcement.
