After more than 20 years of growing Tampa, Florida-based Forrester-Smith to a successful multi-million dollar business, Wing Hughes has relinquished ownership of the company to Geiger, Lewiston, Maine.
In a statement, Hughes praised the deal with Geiger as a potential avenue for continued growth for Forrester-Smith. “The strength and stability of Forrester-Smith can only be enhanced by joining Geiger,” he said. “Becoming part of Geiger will help to springboard sales in the future.”
Hughes, who will be retained as president of the new company, Forrester-Smith, a division of Geiger, purchased Forrester-Smith in January 1986. Under his leadership, the company grew from 18 sales associates and three support staff to 140 independent sales associates and 27 support people, with five regional offices covering 28 states.
While Geiger currently ranks as the industry’s eighth-largest distributor, the addition of more than $20 million in annual sales from Forrester-Smith is expected to contribute significantly to the overall growth of the organization next year.
The new company will continue normal operations from its location in Tampa.
