United Way of Jasper County, Iowa, recently recognized The Vernon Company, Newton, Iowa, with the inaugural Champion of United Way Award.
During the organization’s 2015 annual meeting and awards celebration, Jessica Lowe, executive director for United Way of Jasper County, presented the award to company representatives. “Vernon has gone above and beyond in its efforts to help United Way meet its goals, share its mission and provide United Way with the tools, resources and volunteers necessary to make positive change in our community,” Lowe stated.
Lowe explained that over the last five years, Vernon and its employees have raised nearly $97,000 for United Way of Jasper County. Additionally, Lowe shared the many ways the company and its employees supported the campaign:
- The company provided for on-site presentations to employees about the importance of United Way of Jasper County.
- 86 employees donated more than $144 on average.
- 21 employees contributed to the campaign at the leadership level of $250 or more.
- Most recently, The Vernon Company raised $24,131 for the United Way of Jasper County campaign.
