Not that Kanye West needed any help in the motivation department, but he got a little boost when he broke the record for merchandise sales at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, beating the record’s previous holder, Pope Francis.

According to the Daily Mail, West sold $780,000 in merchandise during the New York stop of his Saint Pablo tour on Monday.

Pope Francis held the record since last year when he held Mass for 20,000 people in the arena, where people could buy Pope-themed memorabilia, like rosaries, crucifixes, caps and more. His total merchandise sales volume hit $540,000.

It will be interesting to see, as West’s tour continues, whether or not he breaks more merchandise records. His Los Angeles tour date is at The Forum, so at least Kobe Bryant won’t have to worry about West usurping his record at the Staples Center.
