Netflix Is Upping Its Promotion and Licensing Game

10478570_10152214521608870_2744465531652776073_n-0It appears as though Netflix is looking to increase its brand awareness in a physical sense. The company posted a job opening for a “licensing, merchandising and promotion” senior manager, who would handle licensing for “books, comics, gaming toys, collectibles, soundtrack and apparel” for the company’s original programming.

With Netflix becoming a major player in original content, as we saw the success of shows like “Stranger Things” and “Orange Is The New Black,” there are plenty of opportunities for it to provide products that end-users would look to snatch up.

In terms of ideas, Engadget hypothesized that the network could do fun tie-ins, like a “Stranger Things” version of Dungeons and Dragons—a game the main characters played on the show.

For those without Netflix subscriptions (who aren’t mooching off of their friends or parents who do pay for it), this is an opportunity for Netflix to reach out and give a little nudge to sign up. It’s a way of getting its content in front of prospective customers in a fun, original way.

We’re honestly surprised Netflix hasn’t done this already. Hopefully they do some fun things, like a “Bojack Horseman” horse mask, or “Luke Cage” Band-Aids.
