Long Island Distributor and Supplier Partner to Give Sick Children a Happy Holiday

In an attempt to bring smiles to the faces of children hospitalized during the holiday season, Westbury, New York-based promotional products distributor Motivators, Inc. has partnered with Lynbrook-based supplier Funco Promotions to donate toys to the Child Life Program at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola. Staff members from both businesses were on hand at Winthrop December 21, to help Santa Claus distribute the toys to patients in the pediatric unit.

“We are so proud to have partnered with Funco for this event,” said Motivators’ director of operations, Jennifer Brigandi. “The overwhelming donation that they have made to these children is truly an expression of their commitment to help less fortunate individuals in our own community.” Josh Arkin, marketing director of Funco Promotions, dropped off hundreds of dollars worth of toys at Motivators corporate offices in Westbury on December 15. The toys included activity books, play dough and sports-shaped stress relievers. Additionally, donations from Motivators staff members included stuffed animals, arts-and-craft kits and various games.

Arkin joined Motivators staff members Keri Ello, Danielle Grossi and Sarah Shepherd at Winthrop Hospital. Motivators sales manager, Anthony McNally (dressed as Santa Claus) visited children individually to hand out presents. “It was honestly one of the most humbling experiences of my life,” said McNally. “The kids’ reactions when I walked in their rooms and handed them toys is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.”

The toy drive, which began in early December, is a public expression of both Motivators’ and Funco’s commitment to giving back to those in need on Long Island. The joint effort marks the first time that Motivators and Funco have collaborated in a charitable donation program, and wraps up Motivators “Motivate to Donate” program. The mission of the quarterly program, established by director of operations, Jennifer Brigandi, is to provide assistance to less fortunate individuals on Long Island in the form of charitable donations.
