To celebrate Major League Baseball’s Opening Day, we did a rundown of our favorite giveaways from around the league. To us, the biggest standouts were the Washington Nationals’ magic 8-ball, the Minneapolis Twins’ hoodie, the Oakland Athletics’ pennant and an Arizona Diamondbacks T-shirt.
Taking things a step further, CBS Sports looked at every team’s promotional schedule, and ranked the best of each team’s planned promotions.
The San Diego Padres finished at the bottom, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise. We reported earlier that the Padres marketing office was basically phoning it in from the beginning.
Our hometown Philadelphia Phillies finished toward the bottom, too, with just a Mike Schmidt bobblehead piquing the author’s interest.
Seattle earned the top spot, thanks in part to the Ken Griffey Jr. mini replica statue the team will give out. The M’s are followed by Oakland’s “Game of Thrones” pennant, Texas’ Adrien Beltre “dancing legs” bobblehead, the Cubs’ World Series snow globe, and Cleveland’s American League Champions replica trophy.
