TD Bank, Cherry Hill, N.J., is recalling a line of its pens from its branches because of a manufacturing flaw that could potentially be a safety hazard.

“With abundant safety in mind, TD self-reported our concern to the Consumer Product Safety Commission late last year, and proactively recalled and replaced the complimentary pens we offer our customers,” a TD Bank spokesperson said in an email to Promo Marketing. “At TD, we take the safety and well-being of our customers and employees very seriously, and remain committed to continually improving the experiences we offer our customers in the communities we serve.”

According to a note at certain bank branches, the green medallion top of the pen can pop off, creating a risk of choking or other medical issues.

Based on what we can see, the new pen design does away with the problematic piece, eliminating any risk of another recall in the future.

The note instructs users to either destroy the item or bring it back to the bank in exchange for “a couple of nifty new ones.”
