NFL Rookies Top Overall Merchandise Sales

shieldIt’s been a banner year for rookies in the NFL. While Carson Wentz is our favorite up here in Philadelphia, it’s obvious that Cowboys fans have been celebrating their rookie sensations under center—quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott. The two became the first two players in the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) to lead the league in sales as rookies. That’s huge.

Elliot led the NFL in total merchandise sales, and he was the first rookie to ever do that.

“It’s pretty humbling,” Elliot said, according to CBS Sports. “When you’re a rookie, you’re just looking to put your head down, help the team and learn the ropes. To accomplish this level of success off the field shows just how passionate football fans are in Dallas, Ohio, my home state of Missouri and all around the world. And to be up there with Dak and Dez, alongside great players like Tom Brady and Odell Beckham, is very special to me.”

Prescott finished second overall. It’s impressive that not only did two rookies finish this high up in merchandise sales, but they’re together on the same team as the quarterback-running back partnership.

It does make sense, though, given Dallas’ reputation as “America’s Team.”

(Editor/Eagles fan’s note: Dallas is not America’s team. Go birds.)
