We hope everyone had a relaxing Thanksgiving, with minimal travel headaches, plenty of time spent with friends and family, and even more time sleeping off unholy amounts of turkey and stuffing.
We also hope you had some time to really step away from work and all things promotional products for a few minutes. We sure did. (Heck, I was on another continent for a lot of it.) 1. South Dakota’s Meth Campaign
South Dakota launched a campaign to combat drug use in the state, but chose an interesting slogan for it. “Meth. We’re On It.” It certainly got attention beyond the South Dakota borders, and now we’re seeing plenty of merchandise to support it. Which, I mean, is good.
2. Vistaprint’s Data Leak
Last week, it came out that Vistaprint left customer service interaction data in an unencrypted online database, which was vulnerable to being exposed.
3. Christie’s Supreme Auction
The Supreme brand is practically synonymous with resale these days, so it makes sense that the Christie’s auction house had a collection of some pretty dope Supreme gear. If you can believe it, a lot of it was a little pricey.
4. Florida Tourism Official Uses County Money on Own Promo Business
Carol Hudson, former vice president of sports marketing for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, allegedly bought promotional products from her own company, Saints Enterprises, without alerting county officials of the conflict of interest.
5. Angry Birds ‘Venting Machine’ Celebrates Violence
Sometimes we all need to blow off a little steam, right? We’re not usually rewarded for it, though. But, this Angry Birds “Venting Machine” gives prizes in exchange for punches, shakes or shouts.
