Amazon Launches Promotional Tool for Giveaways

Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Giveaway, which it dubs “the first self-service giveaway tool.”

The e-tailer believes its tool will modernize the time-tested radio giveaway. Anyone can use the tool. The only catch—the actual giveaway must be purchased on Amazon.

“The idea of running giveaway promotions is easy. They are a really effective way to attract attention and build engagement, but giveaways often come with hidden costs and complexities which makes the reality of running one hard,” said Steve Shure, vice president of consumer marketing for Amazon. “Amazon Giveaway is the first self-service tool that takes care of all the hard work of a giveaway, from setting up all of the rules to shipping prizes directly to winners.”

To use the tool, visit www.amazon.com find the eligible prize item on Amazon and click “Set up a giveaway” on the product detail page. Determine the giveaway details, such as requiring participants to follow your brand on Twitter or determining that every 500 entrants will win, and then pay for the prizes (up to 50 items or $5,000 total value per giveaway). The host will receive a link to the giveaway, enabling sharing to potential participants however desired. Amazon will ship the prize directly to the winners. All giveaways expire when the prizes run out or in seven days, whichever happens sooner.
