American Apparel confirmed that Iris Alonzo has been reinstated as senior creative director after her dismissal this summer, according to a report by Fashionista.
This announcement comes after many shakeups at American Apparel, including Dov Charney’s suspension as CEO, the appointment of a new interim CEO, and the election of four new board members—one of whom is the company’s first female board member. Alonzo was reportedly a key part of the company’s style and branding, going back as far as the company’s retail launch in 2004.
The company says that it is excited to have Alonzo back, and that it hopes her knowledge of the company and commitment to ethical manufacturing will evolve the brand.
Despite the reinstatement of Alonzo, Charney’s future with American Apparel is still unclear.
