The Black Friday deals that consumers tend to go crazy for usually involve TVs, game consoles and toys. So imagine our surprise when we saw that the hot ticket item for Black Friday 2017 was actually employee uniforms. According to Mashable, employees from several large retailers attempted to cash in on Black Friday desperation by selling their uniforms to shoppers.
It all started out as a joke tweet from a Wal-Mart employee who offered to sell his Wal-Mart vest for $100. He received several offers, and the tweet went viral, which prompted the employee to admit he was just kidding.
The damage had already been done, however, and once employees at other retailers saw how much their uniforms could fetch on the social media black market, they wanted in. Employees at Best Buy, Target and, of course, Wal-Mart decided to get in on the action, offering to sell their uniforms to their Twitter followers.

News of this scheme spread fast, resulting in store managers advising employees to be on the lookout for unfamiliar workers donning the employee vests.
While we don’t condone the practice of selling uniforms as part of any Black Friday shopping strategy, we do feel this represents the power of uniforms.
