Ash City, based in Richmond Hill, ON, Canada and now part of the alphabroder family, commemorated Earth Day this year by removing waste from the indoor office space and surrounding outdoor community area. The clean-up sessions took place on April 22 in Richmond Hill, inside and outside of their corporate headquarters, with the goal of collecting as much waste as possible. After the Ash City teams concluded their recycling and garbage collection, bags were weighed to tabulate the results: Over 140 lbs. of garbage and 1,400 lbs. of recycling were gathered by the Ash City teams during the afternoon.
“This was quite a successful initiative for us and we are very pleased with the results from the day’s events,” said Angela Sheridan, senior marketing services manager for Ash City. “It’s imperative that both our employees and the individuals within the community recognize the damaging effects that an abundance of waste can have on the environment, and as a promotional and corporate apparel company, it is our continued goal to remain active participants in social responsibility within the community.”
Going Green is not just a trend at Ash City; you can find it in all aspects of the business model. The company recognizes the negative effects that production can have on the environment, and with this in mind, Ash City has taken steps to eliminate unnecessary pollution. In early 2007, Ash City introduced its e.c.o (ecological clothing options) line of clothing. By utilizing organic, sustainable, renewable and recycled fibers in their fabrics, the company is able to produce eco-friendly apparel that helps lessen the burden on our globe’s natural resources. The corporate headquarters in Richmond Hill, Ontario has also been recognized as being energy-efficient through reducing energy consumption by more than 50 percent, recycling products and reusing rainwater runoff to irrigate their surrounding lawns.
