Julie Heller, marketing manager for Bodek And Rhodes, Philadelphia, was recently honored as the Volunteer of the Year for the Specialty Advertising Counselors of the Delaware Valley (SACDV).
The Volunteer of the Year is selected by the SACDV president, and is based on observation, as well as the hours and efforts the volunteer dedicates throughout the year in order to further the achievements, member services and growth of SACDV.
“Julie is always there helping…as both a leader and a friend,” said Vytas Masaliatis, SACDV president. “She has been very instrumental in our partnering with other regional associations, and takes on everything from planning to working at events.”
One of Heller’s most notable volunteer efforts is her role as SACDV’s delegate for Promotions East. For the past seven years, she has acted as liaison between the associations, and has been instrumental in increasing the number of SACDV members who attend Promotions East.
In accpeting the honor, Heller stated, “While I am truly honored with this recognition, I feel as if I should be showing my thanks to SACDV for all they give me,” she said. “From day one, my volunteerism has been a tremendously edifying experience. I have learned, and continue to learn so much about the industry, the companies that define it, the associations that make it thrive, and the individuals that make it an exciting, ever-changing arena.”
Of Heller’s designation, Mary Ellen Hudicka, director of marketing communications for Bodek And Rhodes, and the 2007 SACDV President’s Award winner and Hall of Fame inductee, said, “Julie does whatever is asked of her, and more. She has always been a great asset to the Bodek and Rhodes marketing team, and as a volunteer with SACDV, she puts forth as much effort and dedication as full-fledge board members.”
