Broder’s Alpha Division Ups The UPF Protection

Trevose, Pennsylvania-based BroderBros. announced its Alpha division has seen a steady increase in seasonal demand for new fabric technologies, most notably for apparel with Columbia Sportwear’s proprietary Omni-Shade sun protection technology that blocks harmful UV rays. Akin to the protection provided by sunscreen, Omni-Shade provides protection from UPF 15 to UPF 50.

Columbia’s Omni-Shade blocks UV rays by using tightly woven fabrics and finishes, providing the best UPF ratings in the industry, ranging from UPF 15, which protects the wearer from 93.3 percent of the sun’s UV rays to UPF 50, which protects from 97.5 percent. This technology, combined with lightweight fabrics and features such as venting and mesh, make the clothing perfect for hot summer months. Columbia’s Omni-Shade is recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective UV protectant.

“BroderBros. and Alpha are continually looking for innovations to bring value to our customers and let them provide the most cutting-edge apparel to their customer base,” says Andrea Engel, vice president, merchandising, BroderBros. “Columbia’s Omni-Shade is a perfect example of how we can take a product that is incredibly successful at the retail level and make a new and attractive product offering to our imprintable customers.”
