Tailgating is one of the best parts of going to a sports game. Heck, we’ve tailgated plenty of games that we didn’t even have tickets for. There’s just nothing quite like the thrill of the parking lot before the big game.
If you want to recreate that feeling in the comfort of home while you enjoy your favorite food and drinks without having to freeze to death or put up with bad sight lines in the stands, Bud Light has a pretty nifty way to do so: a candle that smells like the tailgating experience.
For this candle, Bud Light teamed up with Homesick, a company that makes candles designed to invoke nostalgic feelings through scent.
This particular scent reportedly includes notes of lawn chairs, hops, fresh jersey, grass, bleachers, dried face paint, cedar, “ol’ pigskin” and smoked charcoal. So, it covers pretty much everything from having a catch in the lot and grilling some pre-game snacks to finally making it into the game.

We’ve seen beer companies using candles as branded merchandise lately. You might remember Miller Lite releasing a limited run of candles designed to smell like certain bars while a lot of establishments were closed during the early pandemic shutdowns.
This seems like a natural continuation of that trend, even as the world continues to open up. The way that we do things has forever changed in a lot of circumstances. Even though the stadiums are open, a lot of people are now more used to hosting game day in their homes, so this candle is a fun touch for those occasions.
It also comes in specially designed co-branded packaging depicting some of the scents advertised on the candle, as well as both the Bud Light and Homesick logos.
The candle itself is sort of shaped like a beer can, creating even more connection between the Bud Light logo and the experience of holding a can in the parking lot. The candle probably gets hot, though, so maybe don’t hold it in your palm while it’s lit. And while it’s non-toxic, please don’t drink the wax.
