As we saw this year, fans were (really) excited about the return of “Gilmore Girls.” Hundreds of fans hung out outside of real-life coffee shops that were disguised as Luke’s Diner, a setting on the show. (Full disclosure: I’ve never watched Gilmore Girls, so if I’m wrong, PM’s senior content editor Hannah Abrams hopefully will correct me.)
But my lack of “Gilmore Girls” knowledge isn’t important here. What’s important is that now, months after the Luke’s Diner promotion, a coffee shop in Detroit is auctioning off the Luke’s Diner merchandise for charity, according to the Detroit Metro Times.
“You ladies and a few fellas seemed really eager to buy or steal the aprons, hats and displays right off our employees’ backs!” Urban Bean Co. said on Facebook. “It was a ton of fun seeing everyone standing in line for several hours before we even opened.”
(Editor’s note: Hannah still has a Luke’s Diner coffee sleeve on her desk. We’ll have to see if it could be worth something in the future.)
