The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that World Trading, Valencia, Calif., is recalling its Orbit self-balancing scooters, otherwise known as hoverboards, due to a risk of overheating and catching fire.
This comes after the CPSC recalled more than 500,000 hoverboards in July, following the commission’s ruling that all available hoverboard products as unsafe.
However, World Trading and the CPSC have not received any reports of injuries or incidents, but warned that the product’s lithium-ion battery could overheat.
The CPSC recommended that customers immediately stop using the products and contact World Trading to exchange their products for free, UL-certified replacements.
