Two toys from two different companies were recalled last week.
In conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Family Dollar Services Inc., Matthews, N.C. recalled the Tough Treadz Auto Carrier as the die-cast metal cars have sharp edges that post a laceration hazard. Also, Houston-based LS Import Inc. recalled Airplane and Butterfly Push Toys since the wheels and tip of the butterflies’ antennas can detach, causing a choking hazard.
No injuries were reported for either item. About 254,000 of the trucks were sold at Family Dollar stores between September and December of last year for $5. The plastic toy truck with a plastic case measures 14x3x5″ and holds six die-cast metal toy cars in assorted colors. The cab of the truck comes in black, blue or red and is labeled with “Tough Treadz Auto Carrier” with a white sticker in the upper right-hand corner containing “$5” and “SKU 1004247” printed in red.
Between May and July of the same year, LS Import stores in Houston sold about 660 push toys for between $1 and $2. The airplane push toy is red and has a blue, yellow and red rotor above the cockpit’s canopy and eyelids on the nose of the airplane that open and shut. It also has a pink plastic rod with a handle that connects to the back of the toy to push it. The butterfly push toy’s body is yellow with pink wings that flap up and down and has a pink plastic ball at the end of each of two antennas. It also has a green plastic rod with a handle that connects to the back of the toy to push it.
