Motivators Inc., Westbury, N.Y., served as a sponsor for Connecticut Sports Foundation‘s 27th annual Celebrity Dinner & Memorabilia Auction, which helps to raise money for cancer patients and their families. The event was held Feb. 7 at Connecticut casino Mohegan Sun. Motivators donated promotional bags for the event.
“Giving back to the community is important to everyone at Motivators,” Rachel Levin, CAS, Motivators’ marketing and sales director, said. “What better way than to help cancer patients in their time of need?”
More than 75 volunteers organized the event for Connecticut Sports Foundation, which raised about $300,000 over the past two years at its annual fundraiser. Five MLB players, including David Phelps and Brendan Ryan of the New York Yankees, Craig Barlow of the Boston Red Sox and Matt Harvey of the New York Mets were scheduled to attend.
Since its 1987 founding, the nonprofit—founded by John Ellis, a Connecticut native who is a cancer survivor and former New York Yankees catcher—has given $3.5 million to more than 4,000 families needing financial assistance to support a loved one with cancer. The Old Saybrook, Connecticut-based foundation also has donated more than $1.5 million to cancer research.
