Dov Charney Offers Los Angeles Apparel Workforce for Masks, Medical Products

American Apparel founder and former CEO Dov Charney, now at the helm of Los Angeles Apparel, is offering his company’s manufacturing capabilities to combat the ongoing COVID-19 crisis by manufacturing medical masks and other products for “any government agency.” The masks are cotton fleece and adjustable to fit any face shape or size.

The company posted the following message on social media on Monday:

It also posted models and workers sporting the masks, which it is selling in a three-pack for $30 (reminiscent of the old American Apparel retail days).

Fashionista reported that Charney’s business isn’t the only fashion brand helping out the cause, as LVMH plans to use its perfume and cosmetics production facilities to make hand sanitizer, which it will give to French health authorities for free.

Charney’s reputation at American Apparel certainly precedes him, so a bit of altruism is good for the brand identity, even if the masks are sold in packs like socks, T-shirts or boxers used to be.
