Few characters in history have lent themselves to boxy promos like Spongebob Squarepants. With the Xbox Series X’s rectangular shape, Microsoft has managed to create a lot of clever promotional campaigns, like refrigerators and a Barbie dream house.
But using the other components, like controllers, it’s managed to bring in the vibe of other IP’s like pizza-scented controllers for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles;” or a fuzzy controller for “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.”
Now to commemorate the release of a new video game called “Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl,” Xbox is raffling off a special edition console that looks like Spongebob because, well, he’s square, too. It also comes with a matching controller with the faces of other “Spongebob” characters.

But, like the refrigerator, this really seems like a no-brainer for Xbox. There aren’t too many other beloved cartoon characters whose shape matches a consumer product so well.
