If you have ever bought any apparel or things like that on resale sites, you probably have seen the way the item’s condition is listed. There’s “BNIB” (brand new in bag), “mint,” “excellent,” “good,” etc.
There’s not a lot of products listed as “greasy,” though.
If you’re shopping for those BTS-branded McDonald’s items, however, you might run across a “greasy” product or two that still go for $100. For real, a greasy McDonald’s bag–like one that food came in–sold for $100 on eBay just because it had the BTS logo on it.
As for the bags without grease, those are listed for as high as $1,000. That’s obviously an ambitious ask by the eBay seller, but at the rate people are asking for these bags, it’s not that insane.
We knew there was going to be rabid demand for these BTS products, but we thought it was going to be for actual apparel and accessories. Those are selling too, strangely for lower prices. The McDonald’s x BTS “crew” shirts intended for employees are only going for anywhere from $15 to $35, which is a pretty standard price range for a T-shirt.
But a greasy bag? A used container that once held chicken nuggets? That’s what people are after?
On one hand, it really shows the power of good printed products and packaging that people want an item that badly. But, on the other hand, it’s a greasy bag.
Some T-shirts on eBay are even bundled with the paper bags. And, like those Pokemon cards, it looks like someone got their hands on a box of paper bags intended for the restaurant. Or, maybe it was a restaurant worker who just grabbed an armful at the end of their shift. But bags are being sold in bulk on eBay, too.
With fast food companies exploring reusable packaging, imagine if McDonald’s made reusable bags with the BTS logo on them (insert thinking face emoji here).
