Keystone Mint, Folcroft, Pa., has been chosen to create the official Pope Francis antique bronze medallions for the pope’s visit to Philadelphia Sept. 26 to 27.
The medallions are the creation of two sculptures. The portrait of Pope Francis was done by Mariangela Crisciotti, the Rome-based Vatican artist. On the reverse side, The World Meeting of Families’ logo was done by Bruno Malone, based in Philadelphia. Under the direction of Ben Madessi, plant manager at the Keystone Mint, all the bronze medallions are die struck, antique and buffed by hand.
The Papal Visit Medallions can be purchased on The World Meeting of Families website, shop.worldmeeting2015.org, and at various locations throughout the city during the week of the meeting.
