The holiday shopping frenzy might’ve been dominated by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but one gaming platform raised the most eyebrows (and smelled the best).
We’re talking about the KFConsole, a fully functional branded video game console made by KFC that also keeps chicken warm.

KFC originally announced the console in June, and most people figured it was just a marketing gag. After all, even if people wanted a video game console that doubles as a personal chef (they did), how would you make that possible with the high demands of modern gaming and the limitations heat creates on technology?
Through a partnership with Cooler Master, KFC made this a reality with “a unique, custom-built internal cooling system to extract system heat through around the outside of the chicken chamber, ensuring that the hardware is kept at a regular core temperature while simultaneously delivering a piping-hot meal.”
“Moving forward from our initial teaser campaign earlier this year, we’re so pleased to finally give the fans exactly what they wanted: making the KFConsole a reality,” Mark Cheevers, PR and Social Media Lead at KFC U.K. and Ireland, said in a press release. “We all know the console war is vicious, but we’re very confident in the KFConsole as our flagship entry. This machine is capable of running games at top-level specs, all on top of keeping your meal warm for you to enjoy during your gaming experience … what’s not to like? If Sony or Microsoft want any tips on how to engineer a chicken chamber for their efforts next time, they’d be welcome to get in touch.”
According to the specs provided by Cooler Master, the console has two 1TB solid state hard drives and is capable of 4K output and 240fps frame rate.
That’s … actually really solid for something that a lot of people would write off as a gimmick.
“When we were approached by KFC Gaming to make the KFConsole, we jumped at the chance to get involved and enter the console war,” Stephen James, Global PR and Influencer Manager at Cooler Master, said in the release. “The KFConsole has been custom built with the gamer at the front of mind. The last thing we want is anyone to go hungry while playing!”
One thing is still a little unclear: How exactly you get one. It’s awesome, and we want one. But KFC has been a little cryptic with details. I guess that’s just part of the modern console wars: exclusivity and difficulty. Everyone freaked out about not being able to get a PS5 at launch. KFC might’ve made enough KFConsoles to satiate the masses, but the company is choosing to make it hard to get one still.
