Lands’ End Recalls Children’s Sleepwear

Retailer Lands’ End recalled 25 styles of children’s sleepwear that failed to meet the federal flammability standard for children’s sleepwear.

The recalls for boys’ styles include select styles of fleece pajamas sets, fleece sleep pants, full-zip fleece sleepers, hooded fleece robes and knit sleep pant sets. Girls’ styles that were recalled include fleece shirred gowns, full-zip fleece sleepers, hooded fleece robes, long-sleeve graphic knit tops, sleep fleece pants and sleep fleece sets.

The affected merchandise was sold through Lands’ End’s catalog and website between January 2014 and February 2015. The affected product was not available at its retail locations, including its Lands’ End Shops at Sears. Once the product is returned to Lands’ End, the funds will be returned to the purchaser via the original method of payment. Purchasers also will receive a $15 Lands’ End gift card.

Lands’ End indicated the products in question were tested and passed the required testing by a third-party laboratory accredited by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

“As a company of parents and families, we are taking this issue very seriously,” Kelly Ritchie, senior vice president of employee and customer services for Lands’ End, said in a letter to customers. “While there have been no reported injuries, we are working closely with our vendor to better understand how this happened notwithstanding passing test results by a CPSC-accredited third-party lab, and how we will prevent it from happening in the future.

“We are passionate about every single item we sell and that’s why we stand behind everything with a simple promise of satisfaction: Guaranteed. Period. With that promise in mind, we are asking that you please stop using the recalled sleepwear immediately and return it to us as soon as possible.”
