There’s never a dull week in the world of promotional products. Over the last few days, we again realized the potential of micro-moments to make for branded gold thanks to an emergency backup goalie’s turn with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, and saw some pretty great Philly-centric merch at our local Whole Foods. A trio of other goodies joins that pair, so read on to see what wowed us in this week’s Fave 5!

On Saturday, emergency backup goaltender David Ayres—a 42-year-old who’d never played in the NHL—helped the Carolina Hurricanes secure a 6-3 road win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. To honor his feat, the team is selling this locally printed T-shirt that will channel royalties to Ayres and proceeds to the National Kidney Foundation.
2. National Pancake Day Socks from IHOP
We’re so pancakes about National Pancake Day, we pancaked a bunch of prizes that you can win! Come in tomorrow, February 25th, for a free short stack and a chance to win all those pancake prizes we were just talking about.

We missed our chance to compete in the IHOP National Pancake Day Promotion, adding to the sting of not having grabbed a free short stack for yesterday’s celebration. To those who will end up nabbing the 250 pairs of IHOP socks, we hope you wear those beauties until they become the most awesome examples of threadbare footwear ever.
3. Whole Foods’ Reusable Water Bottles
Everyone dreads going to the grocery store—OK, maybe not everyone, but we certainly do—but while waiting in line, we noticed these awesome reusable water bottles. They’re available in a few different colors (check out that awesome turquoise blue one) and even have the “LOVE” detail, like the one in Love Park here in Philadelphia.
4. Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department’s Okie Eco Tote Bag
Tote bags are all the rage, so this organic cotton one stands out to us as a great selection from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department’s new merch collection. We’re really fond of how the “Okie” script fits neatly inside the image of the buffalo, which factors into many other products that the state is issuing.
5. Sweetgreen “+ Avocado” Hat
We’ll be completely honest here: We came across these hats after watching former “Bachelor” star Colton Underwood’s Instagram story where he shared a PR box from Sweetgreen. This wasn’t the exact hat in the box, but we had to check out their online shop to see what kind of merch was available. That’s when we saw this “+ Avocado” one with this description: “Things worth paying extra for: legroom, unlimited data and avocado. Emphasis on the avocado. Add it to your salad or better yet, wear it on your head with the official hat.” We couldn’t agree more!
