The 2016 Women’s Leadership Conference (WLC) held by the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), Irving, Texas, took place in Atlanta last month with an agenda that included lectures, networking opportunities, city excursions and more. With a record-breaking attendance, the event was one for the books.

“2016 has been an exceptional year for PPAI’s Women’s Leadership Conference,” said Rachel Robichaud, director of professional development for PPAI. “With record breaking attendance, the event provided a unique experience for women within the industry to network with peers, hear from top-notch speakers and get re-energized and focused. The level of energy at the event was indescribable.”

The event kicked off on June 27 with a welcome reception followed by a dinner to present the 2016 Woman of Achievement award. PPAI selected Mary Dobsch, MAS, owner and president of Washington, Missouri-based promotional products supplier The Chest Inc., for the award.

The next two days of the conference were filled with lectures from Dale Denham, chief information officer for Lewiston, Maine-based Geiger; Carol Gauger, director of member engagement and regional relations for PPAI, Teresa Moisant, owner of Oklahoma City-based Moisant Promotional Products; Maria Higgins, motivational speaker for Fayetteville, Georgia-based Clear Steps Group Inc.; Jessica Hutwelker, MAS, regional sales manager for Alpharetta, Georgia-based The Magnet Group; Jo-an Lantz, MAS, of Geiger; and more. The conference also included a self-defense training session, yoga and off-site dinners.

The event received rave reviews from attendees, with many women already making plans to attend next year.

“The WLC is a special conference with its own energy and spirit,” said Jamie Watson, MAS, WLC work group leader. “It is unlike any other conference in the industry. Women not only get to grow professionally through the education provided, but also by the connections they make with other women. Many women forge relationships that truly last a lifetime.”
