PPAI Women’s Conference Named Annual Event, Empowered Attendants

Approximately 100 industry female executives were inspired, empowered and refreshed at the Second PPAI Women’s Leadership Conference last month. Participants evaluated the conference at an overall value of 99.4 percent, which helped to influence PPAI’s decision in making it an annual event.

“I was drawn back to this year’s conference because of the relationships I established at last year’s conference,” said Teresa Moisant, president/owner of Oklahoma City-based distributorship Moisant Promotional Products. “The personal bonding experience is just amazing. It’s a group of women with a total commitment to helping each other.”

The event, which convened in Colorado Springs, Colo., July 19-21, provided opportunities for industry women to recognize and further develop their leadership potential. Additionally, it delivered a network of mentors who assisted attendants in meeting professional and personal goals.

“The conference was a business retreat for the soul,” said Mary Ellen Hudicka, conference speaker and director of marketing at Bodek & Rhodes, Philadelphia. “Imagine 100 professional women from the same industry reaching out to each other to rejuvenate their lives. I grew personally and professionally.”

To give those who did not attend the three-day event an idea of what they missed, topics such as “What’s Sex Got to Do with It” were explored. “The topic dealt with marketing and selling to the opposite sex,” said Susan Carnahan, conference speaker and owner of Carnahan Presents, Inc., a marketing communications firm based in Monument, Colo. “The first thing we established is that men and women differ in many ways. So, why do we continue to market to women the same way we’ve always sold and marketed to men?”
