Promotional Products Education Foundation (PFEF), an Irving, Texas-based nonprofit founded to recognize and encourage scholastic excellence and academic performance among promotional products industry employees and their children, recently announced 106 winners of $150,000 in academic scholarships.
Scholarships were awarded to outstanding promotional products industry employees or their children—77 new and 29 renewals—who displayed remarkable academic achievement, extracurricular participation and community service. Each will be awarded between $1,000 and $5,000 to support their college educations.
Scholarships presented include merit- and need-based four-year college scholarships for academic excellence and achievement, chairman’s college scholarships, Friends of PPMN scholarships, merit- and need-based one-year college scholarships, and named scholarships. PPEF has awarded more than $1.4 million in financial assistance to 879 recipients since 1989.
“For the second year in a row, the PPEF board has increased the scholarship awards by $25,000. Awarding $150,000 is a testament to the wonderful, generous companies and individuals who are giving back to the industry through their support of PPEF,” said Sara Besly, PPEF manager. “PPEF is also increasing support for students demonstrating financial need. Starting this year, recipients of four-year need-based scholarships will receive $8,000 over four years, and recipients of one-year need-based scholarships will receive $2,000. Our goal is to provide more assistance to those who need it most.”
Funded by Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) and donations from the promotional products industry, the scholarship program enables youth and professionals to continue their education on a collegiate level. The Association and industry patrons have a long-standing commitment of service to the promotional products industry and this fund supports those who demonstrate the same commitment.
