Susan Freiberg, owner of Proforma ABF Direct, based in Turnersville, N.J., is helping the Gloucester County Red Cross’s executive director Laura Steinmetz “bag” the local branch’s financial troubles. Freiberg, with Proforma ABF Direct resources at hand, is donating 500 beach tote bags to the Gloucester County Red Cross. The bags will be given out in return for a $10 donation. After all the bags are given away, the local Red Cross branch will be $5,000 closer to its mandatory goal of raising $70,000 in order to stay open.
One of the oldest chapters in New Jersey, the Gloucester County Red Cross collects more than 11,000 units each year for local use and certifies more than 8,000 residents in CPR, first-aid and AED use. Every year, the chapter delivers 200 important messages to deployed military personnel from Gloucester County and is currently gearing up to support National Guard units from Woodbury, N.J. which leave for Iraq in June.
“This is a great way for area residents to support this vital organization and get a useful product in return,” said Freiberg. “I’m very excited that my donation will multiply into thousands of dollars. That’s the power of promotional products.”
“Our chapter is currently facing a financial emergency due to the unparalleled cumulative financial response to national and international disasters we have experienced within the past four years,” explained Steinmetz. “American Red Cross provided the much needed services and programs for the 2004 Tsunami, 2005 Hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita and ensured locally that every penny designated toward those disasters were delivered without even an administrative percentage retained by our county chapter.”
Steinmetz continued, “This created an unforeseen financial deficit to Gloucester County’s local Red Cross Chapter from which we have not yet recovered. The tote bag donation from Susan and Proforma ABF Direct will directly help keep the Gloucester County branch open, allowing us to continue our service at a local level.”
