Chester, New Jersey-based Promotions Unlimited won three awards for educational tools serving diabetics and other self-injecting patients in the recent 16th annual National Health Information Awards (NHIA), which honors the nation’s best health information programs and materials.
In a field of more than 1,000 entries by leading consumer health organizations, Promotions Unlimited came away with silver and merit awards in the Health Promotion/Disease and Injury Prevention category for its Personal Needle Disposal Unit and its Diabetic Foot Examination Mirror, respectively. In the Patient Education Information category, Promotions Unlimited won a bronze award for its Educational Injection Cube.
NHIA’s awards program, the most comprehensive competition of its kind, is organized by the Health Information Resource Center, an Illinois-based national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials.
Judges included health information experts from across the nation, and the group selected gold, silver, bronze and merit winners in four major categories. Entries included materials such as brochures, newspaper and magazine articles, books and other media.
“We are thrilled to be recognized among such a distinguished group of organizations, with all of us aiming to give patients insightful and relevant tools to enhance their healthcare experiences,” said Joan Charbonneau, CEO of Promotions Unlimited. “These awards validate our mission and motivate us to continue marketing high-quality learning aids.”
Patricia Henze, executive director of the Health Information Resource Center, said the awards “set an industry standard of quality for consumer health materials, and this ‘seal of quality’ helps health professionals find the best consumer health information resources for their programs.”
