Queens of the Stone Age Advertise New Album on Butcher Paper

Bands and musical artists do a lot to advertise their new releases. There are the tried-and-true methods of selling T-shirts and posters with the album artwork, and then there are the likes of Radiohead, who have taken more interesting routes. California rock group Queens of the Stone Age have taken a, let’s say, meatier approach to marketing its latest release, “Villains.”

Select butcher shops in Chapel Hill, N.C.; Nashville, Tenn.; New Orleans; Brooklyn; Washington, D.C.; Denver; Austin; Los Angeles and London have been wrapping their products in paper with artwork inspired by the new album, Pitchfork reported.

This is an interesting way to integrate an advertisement into everyday life in a subtle way. Sure, billboards will always be present on your commute to work, but you don’t hear about too many musicians influencing your trip to the grocery store.
