R.S. Owens Completes Sarah Siddons Award

R.S. Owens, Chicago, has announced completion of the Sarah Siddons Award for an April 27 recognition and fundraising event.
The award is given by the Sarah Siddons Society to recognize excellence in the theatre arts. Past honorees include Helen Hayes, Lauren Bacall, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews and Kathleen Turner. The 2015 Siddons award winner will be Tony award winning actress Jessie Mueller for her Broadway performance in “Beautiful”.
The award is hand-cast in the U.S. using R.S. Owens’ proprietary Stonecast resin process and features a sculpture of the 19th century actress Sarah Siddons seated on an ornate chair.
The Siddons award has a unique design that allows the statuette and base to be cast together in a single mold. Great care is taken during the casting process to completely fill the mold cavity ensuring that minute details like braided hair, the necklace chain and folds of clothing are replicated precisely. The finish is a gold lacquer, which is given a rich tone by applying a base coat of black, followed by three applications of gold. A final clear protective lacquer coating is applied to the entire award.
