Chicago-based R.S. Owens has completed the American Society of Safety Engineers annual professional awards.
The society, which is the world’s oldest safety society, represents all industries and branches of government, and presents these awards to the top safety professionals in their respective fields.
The award represents Salus, the goddess of safety, and was first designed in 1947 as a winged figure. The wings later were removed and the appearance was modernized into the sleek cast statuette used today.
The cast metal figure is manufactured in America, and electroplated in 24k gold, silver or Athenian bronze finishes. Once completed, the figure is attached to a solid American walnut base, which features an engraved metal plate with the society’s medallion mounted on the side.
