Scott Siegel, MAS, president of Chicago-based R.S. Owens, was among the 100 individuals selected to attend President Obama’s virtual town hall meeting. This meeting, the first of its kind, was held in the White House on March 26 and included a live audience of business leaders, medical professionals and educators. The event was simultaneously broadcast on the Internet to encourage nationwide involvement.
Siegel was invited to attend this meeting because of his role as a Chicago business owner and chair-elect to the Irving, Texas-based Promotional Products Association International’s (PPAI) board of directors. “It was an honor to attend this important meeting,” said Siegel, who was involved in grass-roots campaigning for Obama prior to November’s election. “This was especially meaningful not only because I live in the President’s home state, but also because Owens had just completed designing and constructing a glass display case for the barber chair President Obama sat in when he lived full time in Chicago.” Siegel continued, “I was proud to represent PPAI and believe that our invitation to attend the meeting reflects our association’s stature and importance in our industry and in our economy.” Siegel concluded, “It was exciting to have the chance to look inside the federal government and I would welcome the chance to do it again.”
