Yesterday, we reported that Samsung fully discontinued its Galaxy Note 7 phone due to the smartphone’s tendency to overheat, explode and combust. Now, in order to safely recall existing phones (after all, they’re banned from some airlines), the company is sending fireproof packaging and gloves to customers.
“A device containing a lithium ion battery subject to a recall must be shipped in accordance with government regulations, and these special boxes are required by government regulations,” a Samsung spokesperson told Reuters.
XDA Developers posted a video on YouTube showing the packaging material to return the phone.
The kit includes multiple boxes that fit similarly to Russian nesting dolls. The phone finally fits in an insulated box, and includes instructions detailing that the package is not meant for air travel.
