Provo, Utah-based Seastone, a supplier of specialty gift-card packages and gift-card promotional programs, announced an new offering of gift-card packages and programs for the restaurant industry.
“We know that in the retail industry, and particularly within the restaurant segment, customers are looking for ways to personalize and add value to make gift-cards more of a gift,” said Mary Cusick, senior vice president, restaurant marketing for Bob Evans Farms. “We think Seastone will help us do that within our brand character.”
Seastone currently is helping restaurants and other retailers develop their 2008 gift-card promotional programs. Depending on the type of restaurant, Seastone’s gift-card packages are offered free with the purchase of a gift-card, or in some cases they may sell for $.99 to $2.99.
“During the 2006 holiday season, restaurant gift-cards totaled $3.4 billion and accounted for 27 percent of total holiday gift-card sales,” said Phil Rist, retail analyst at BIGresearch. “We expect this trend to continue, with restaurants maintaining a large share of the growing gift-card industry.”
With multiple patents in the gift-card packaging category, Seastone offers a broad product line that includes licensing agreements with major properties such as Peanuts™ by Charles M. Schulz, and the ability to fully customize a program to meet any client’s demands. Seastone will ship more than 100 million units in 2007.
“We’ve seen all types of restaurants embracing gift-cards and gift-card packaging—from fast food to casual to fine dining,” said Eric Child, Seastone president. “Restaurants who aren’t taking advantage of the enormous popularity of gift-cards are missing out on a huge revenue stream. Customized gift-card packaging from Seastone can help them launch a successful gift-card program, or increase the popularity of an existing program.”
