Shades of Green Hit the Runways This Fall

Often synonymous with the verdant spring months, green has become uber-popular in fashion circles this fall.

The color appeared in various hues (from slime to olive) on runways in late summer, from fashion houses such as Gucci, Ferragamo and Chloé, and saw a significant resurgence after the release of Charli XCX’s lime-green album brat. It’s a versatile hue, easy to wear and incorporate into outfits in both professional and leisurely settings.

Green also suggests sustainability and earth-consciousness, while the deeper tones evoke serenity during a year marked by concern centered around geopolitical conflict, the U.S. election and the economy.

“Green is easily associated with natural elements, and is believed to have soothing and relaxing properties, which reduce stress and promote feelings of calm,” say the editors at fashion outlet Stylight. “According to color psychology, brands incorporate green shades in their collections to evoke relaxation, reliability and high quality. … Fashion going green might be an attempt to find calm in an uncertain world, at least when getting dressed in the morning.”

It’s also prime for upcoming promotional campaigns, and industry suppliers have a plethora of options in apparel and accessories.
