On August 29, the Arizona Promotional Products Association (AzPPA) Expo 2012 kicks off in Phoenix with a first-of-its-kind professional development workshop: TechTalk. Taught by industry veterans Charity Gibson and Lisa Horn, CAS, this hand’s-on, interactive course will cover not only why social media has become a crucial component of successful marketing but also how industry practitioners can jump start their social media efforts with tips that can be implemented on the spot.
In Social Media 101, attendees will receive step-by-step training on how to set up Facebook pages and Twitter profiles-from selecting the right name, writing a compelling bio, connecting with others and crafting the first posts and tweets.
Social Media 201 delves into scheduling content, using lists and hashtags, developing social media strategy, promoting your social presence and learning the lingo and etiquette used by social media pros.
“The importance and impact social media has for marketing yourself and your business, connecting with clients globally and being integrated with promotional campaigns has grown exponentially in the last couple years,” said Molly Ginish Nazzaro, AzPPA president. “While there has been much talk in the industry about social media, the professional development available has been limited. There is no better way to learn social media than in a hands-on boot camp from experts who not only understand and successfully use social media but are also a part of our industry. Charity Gibson and Lisa Horn have created a format and curriculum that is in demand, and we look forward to providing this much needed education to our members.”
Wi-Fi will be provided for all in attendance, and participants are encouraged to bring their laptops and be ready to learn. Upon completion of the courses, students will receive 1.5 CAS and 1.5 MAS CEUs, respectively, as well as TechTalk t-shirts and graduation tassels.
