Tips of the Trade: Marketing Calendars—Yours and Mine

By Ilise Benun, marketing mentor

We’re moving into 4th Quarter at the end of this week, so it’s not too early to begin planning for the New Year.

That’s why today’s message includes your very own 2008 Marketing Calendar. It’s a week-by-week schedule of marketing tasks: one version for marketing “rookies” and another for “veterans.”

I created this break-it-down-to-tiny-tasks-and-do-it log to accompany an article I wrote called “Mark Your Calendar” for HOW magazine’s current Self Promotion issue. (The entire article isn’t posted online anywhere, but the magazine is on the newstands through October.)

Speaking of calendars, here are a few marketing workshops and events you can mark on yours.

Happening online — at your desk

Starting the week of Sept. 17, new Marketing Mentor Groups…

1. Bi-weekly Marketing Plan Group: If you don’t have a marketing plan, this one’s for you.

2. Create Your Web site Now: If you don’t have a Web site, this one’s for you.

3. Create Your E-mail Marketing Campaign Now: If you don’t have an e-mail newsletter, this one’s for you.

Also, here’s what’s new on the Marketing Mix Blog this week: “All About Lists #2: Sometimes Marketing is Saying Thank You.”

Oh, and one more thing: If you missed the deadline last month to buy my new book, “The Art of Self Promotion” and get the bonus book too, here’s your chance. We have a new shipment of books and they’re ready to go!
