Chris Hansen, best known as the host of MSNBC’s “To Catch a Predator,” was arrested for writing bogus checks for $13,000 worth of promotional products.

USA Today reported that Hansen was arrested last Monday and charged with issuing fraudulent checks after he wrote two checks to a Stamford, Conn., promotional products company for 355 mugs, 288 T-shirts and 650 vinyl decals that he had purchased in 2017.
“The owner [of the company] and Hansen go back and forth for a period of time,” NBC reported. In April 2018, Hansen wrote another check to the company, which bounced.
Hansen launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2015 to fund a new show called “Hansen vs. Predator,” and offered promotional items like mugs and T-shirts as incentives to donate. It’s unclear if the products in question were fulfillment for those incentives or if they were part of some other promotion, but it’s clear that Hansen has used promotional items before.
