UPS has announced that the rates for some services will increase. Effective Dec. 29, 2014, UPS’ ground, air and international rates will increase an average of 4.9 percent.
UPS package service will increase an average 4.9 percent, air freight rates within and between the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico will increase an average net 4.9 percent—with select accessorial fees increasing as well, and freight rates for shipments rated on UPS Freight 560, 525 and 570/571 Tarriffs will increase an average net 4.9 percent as well.
According to a statement released by UPS, this increase is intended to increase solutions and improve service, such as freight to and from more countries, more pickup options and the ability to reach customers earlier.
Dimensional weight pricing will apply to ground services and standard packages to Canada. This new pricing method was implemented to help reduce excess packaging materials and package sizes, allowing for smaller loads and reductions in fuel use, transportation costs and vehicle emissions.
