Where Is All the Cybertruck Merchandise? (Because It’s Everywhere But Tesla’s Site)

Seriously, what’s up with the Tesla Cybertruck? If you’re out of the loop, Tesla did what it does best: introduce a new product/idea that makes no sense to anyone other than Elon Musk but will somehow make a bajillion dollars and revolutionize and disrupt multiple industries.

In this case, it’s the automotive industry.

The only real problem with the Cybertruck is that it looks like it’s straight out of a video game from 2001. It looks like a child’s drawing came to life. It looks like blocks.

It’s the most Tesla idea Musk has had in a while. But in a very un-Tesla move, the company hasn’t produced a single piece of official Cybertruck merchandise. Musk is the man who made “the world’s most boring hats” and sold out almost instantly. Tesla sold surfboards. We hailed the company as leaders of promotional merchandise a while back!

But, people on Etsy and Amazon have had to pick up the slack and cater to Cybertruck fans, whether or not they’re of the 200,000 or so reported fans who put down a $100 deposit for one.

Wired reported that items like a “I want a Cybertruck” T-shirt, smartphone grips and more have flooded the third-party merchandise world.

We did a quick search of our own and, wouldn’t you know it, there’s all kinds of Cybertruck stuff. On Amazon, we found a Christmas ornament, an “ugly sweater,” a NASA parody T-shirt and an L.E.D. lamp. Etsy was about the same—a lot of 3-D printed models, some holiday cards, more sweaters, cookie cutters and more.

So, why did Tesla seemingly drop the ball here? Was it because it had so many refundable preorders (whether they were serious or not) that they didn’t even need any promotional merch?
