San Francisco’s plastic bag ban has been expanded to include all retail businesses. The use of promotional tote bags is being encouraged by the mayor and chamber of commerce, giving distributors a foot in the door with the city’s retailers.

Gildan Announces First Quarter 2012 Results, Reports Second Quarterly Loss in Company History
Gildan Activewear revealed Wednesday that the company had a net loss of $46.1 million for the first quarter of 2012. The drop, which was anticipated in last year’s fourth-quarter announcement, is only the second quarterly loss since the company went public and began reporting results in 2012.
