Combining Duplicate Customers in Quickbooks

Question: I have created a duplicate customer in QuickBooks that has a slightly different name. How do I combine them into one customer account?

Answer: Go to “customers” > “customer center.” Highlight the customer name you want to change, right click on it and click “Edit Customer: Job.” Change the customer name to match the other one exactly. You will get the message “This name is already being used. Would you like to merge them?” If you answer “yes,” these two will be merged, including the transactions previously entered for each.

Keep in mind, however, that you cannot unmerge them once this is accomplished. Be sure you are merging the correct customers.
