Ask the Accountant…
Question: I get frequent requests for names of accounting or legal professionals “who know our industry.” They are few and far between. I was recently introduced to an attorney who indeed “knows our industry,” and you might want to meet her.
Answer: Amy Williams is an attorney who is also an ad specialty distributor. She is wonderful to talk to, very approachable, and dedicated to providing affordable legal support to members of our industry. You might want to connect with Amy in case you have a current need for her services or keep her information on file for a potential future need.
Read on to learn more about Amy’s extensive and impressive background:
Amy Williams is a former litigation attorney with a workflow management expertise. She oversees five brands under the AB Unlimited Worldwide umbrella, including all business operations, business development, and compliance. The idea for The Promo Lawyer was born during the pandemic, when Amy saw posts in Facebook promo groups from distributor owners, as well as suppliers, that needed help in answering questions about legal issues facing them as a result of the pandemic. Being in the industry herself as a distributor, Amy realized this was the way to give back to her community, by providing affordable access to legal services and making the law understandable and user-friendly. The Promo Lawyer is a resource for understanding your risks in running your own company (supplier or distributor), and evaluating where the leaky buckets might be in your business.
“It takes a village to run a business, and having access to legal resources is paramount for a company’s success,” says Amy.
Prior to AB Unlimited, Amy practiced law for 10 years in California representing financial institutions and real estate corporations in breach of contract litigation. She also served as a pro bono attorney specializing in father’s rights in custody and visitation cases. Amy is a past chair for the California Lawyer’s Association’s Law Practice and Management Executive Committee, and recently was appointed by the Supreme Court of California to the Blue Ribbon Commission for the Study of the California Bar Exam, and was featured on the cover of the 2023 California Lawyer’s Association’s Annual Meeting Program.
Amy has been awarded Special Congressional Recognitions by the 27th, 29th, 30th, and 33rd U.S. Congressional Districts for service to the mentoring community and for service in Latina leadership and is currently licensed to practice law in California State and Federal Courts.
