Finding the right music is one of the most important steps to creating the perfect video. It sets the tone. If there’s no talking involved, we rely on music to tell the story. For product videos, we use music to make viewers feel a certain way about the product at hand.
Below is a video I produced for Americanna Company’s Compressed Sponges. No words were needed to describe these products; the rock and roll music alone tells viewers how cool they are:
Now, imagine that same video cut to classical music. Although the same footage would be displayed, the video as a whole would change. Not to mention, I’d have to go back and cut the whole thing to violins. Yawn!
Don’t get me wrong, classical music is great to use. Slower classical songs tend to give off a serious vibe, while fast-paced ones, like Rondo Alla Turca by Mozart, give off a fun vibe (imagine bloopers set to that track — really funny, right?).
The point is, if the right music isn’t in place, the video will be far from perfect. Consider how you want your viewers to feel before settling on a song.
