Question: Why won’t QuickBooks Online accept an invoice I’m trying to re-export?

Anwer: QuickBooks Online keeps a record of every invoice and bill number it uses. So, even if you delete an invoice, QBO still “remembers” that number. If you try to export the same invoice number again, QuickBooks will reject it as a duplicate.

A simple workaround is to rename the invoice in QBO before deleting it. For example, change Invoice 1000 to “Delete 1000,” then delete it. When you export Invoice 1000 again, QuickBooks sees it as a new number and accepts it.

The same approach works for bills as well.
